Ultra Flat bags are typically deployed first to create initial clearance, then S.Tec or C-TEC bags supplement for main lifting.
Vetter Ultra Flat bags are the standard first-access tool at rescue scenes where clearance is severely restricted. Their 1.6cm (16mm) deflated profile can be inserted under vehicle body panels, between collapsed structural elements and into machinery gaps where even the Vetter Mini bag cannot enter. Once inserted, the extremely low air requirement means the bag reaches operating pressure in seconds — creating immediate initial clearance for other rescue tools to follow.
The four Ultra Flat models (UF 1, UF 3, UF 6, UF 10) cover a capacity range from 1 tonne to approximately 10 tonnes at 8 bar operating pressure. This capacity range is appropriate for the initial lift phase of most vehicle extrication scenarios — creating enough clearance to insert standard S.Tec or C-TEC bags for the main lift to full extraction height. Many rescue teams deploy two Ultra Flat bags side by side to increase the effective lifting area across a wider vehicle underbody section.
Ultra Flat bags are also used in stackable configurations: placing two bags of the same footprint directly on top of each other doubles the total lift height from a single insertion point. This technique is commonly used at building collapse incidents where the debris field must be elevated progressively to create a safe working void. The maximum recommended stack is two bags — adding a third significantly reduces stability and is not recommended under EN 13204 operating guidelines.
