EN 469 Level 2 provides greater protection than Level 1 across heat transfer, flame spread and water penetration. Most professional fire brigades specify Level 2. Level 1 is typically used for industrial fire teams with lower risk profiles. Viking IGNIS suits supplied by Fire and Rescue Tech are EN 469:2020 Level 2 certified.

Is Viking PPE accepted by UAE Civil Defence?

Yes — Viking suits certified to EN 469:2020 and EN 1486 are widely used by UAE Civil Defence, ADNOC fire brigades and Abu Dhabi Airport's ARFF service. European EN certifications are fully accepted across the GCC, where they are recognised alongside NFPA standards.

What PPE is needed for CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) response?

CBRN response requires gas-tight suits certified to EN 943-1 (Type 1a/1b) for full encapsulation, or EN 943-2 (Type 1-ET) for emergency teams. Viking CBRN suits are available on request — contact us for specifications and lead times.

How do I choose between Viking IGNIS and Viking IGNIS WTR?

The Viking IGNIS is the standard structural suit for interior firefighting. The IGNIS WTR adds enhanced water resistance and DRD® moisture management — it is better suited for flood response, marine firefighting, and environments where saturation is a risk. Both are EN 469:2020 Level 2 certified.
